A couple in a small Texas town who thought they had just made history when they delivered their first child in the world have now celebrated the birth by dressing up in costumes.
The story of the couple’s two-year journey from their home in rural South Carolina to a big-screen TV and their wedding was featured in the new episode of ABC’s “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” airing Thursday.
The couple, who declined to give their first names, told the story of how they decided to go to a doctor for a test.
The doctor asked them what they wanted to do and when they said “birth control,” the doctor looked at them and said, “You need to do something.”
“I felt like, ‘Okay, I’m doing this,'” said Kyle, 27.
“I was ready for this.”
The couple’s father, Jason, who works in marketing, said the doctor’s question was a good reminder of the dangers of contraception and other forms of birth control.
The couple had used a condom for years but wanted to try something different.
“We had no idea it was a life-changing thing,” Jason said.
“That’s why we chose birth control.”
Jason said he was so excited when he received the test results.
The test was for a blood test and the couple were given an hour to think about it and decide.
“I’m like, wow, I can have an abortion,” Kyle said.
The birth of Kyle’s firstborn was a big moment for the couple, Jason said, and they celebrated with their parents at their wedding reception the next day.
They also celebrated Kyle’s birthday with a cake that they had prepared, which included a photo of the bride and groom.
The first birthday party at the couples home in Hinton was attended by dozens of guests, Jason and Kyle said, who were all very happy.
“This is what we wanted,” Jason told reporters at the wedding.
“We wanted to celebrate our family.”
They said they had never seen anything like it.
“There was just tears,” Kyle told reporters.
“This is a big day for us, it’s our first big birth, it is a very special day.”
The two said they felt very fortunate that they could have their first baby without having to go through a vasectomy or having an abortion.
“It’s the first time we’ve ever been on the road without a vaseline,” Kyle added.
